Prior to founding Ecosperity Mobility Limited which would be India’s first “sustainability exchange” formed on a belief system of connecting prosperity through eco-sustainable products, Gilroy lead the launch of Newton Consulting Group Inc.’s Indian operations and served as Chief Executive Officer and subsequently was designated Director-Strategy prior to forming Ecosperity Mobility Limited.
Gilroy spent 13 years in the Brand Strategy Consulting business with Newton Consulting India and currently holds a board position with Newton Consulting India as shareholder, mentor and guide to the entity.
Gilroy is Eurasian (normally termed as Anglo Indian) and his Indian connect is his mother who hails from Bangalore. Interestingly, Gilroy played soccer professionally as a teenager but the potential that India offered footballers in those times drove him to pursue education.
After graduation and two trainee jobs in the IT education sector, Gilroy spent his formative years with Xerox, investing over 9 years and handled various assignments from a sales rookie, to a global account manager, key account business manager to heading the Office Business Group as National Marketing Manager at Xerox India’s HQ.
At Xerox, Gilroy was known to have never missed an objective and was recognized with 7 EPA (Exceptional Performance Awards) and 9 Honors Club Certifications. This feat of being amongst the top 1% performers in the country, got him global recognition.
Post his long stint with Xerox, Gilroy joined Scholastic India and headed the marketing and sales function as General Manager- Indian Business Ops. Gilroy managed to drive inorganic growth of the world famous ‘Book Clubs and Book Fairs’ in India by his sheer bullish determination, strategic initiatives and drove his team of regional heads to achieve the impossible- breakeven within the 2nd year itself. Currently too, his achievements are still a milestone within Scholastic India system.
During his tenure, Gilroy was selected by its ASIA PAC HQ to undergo a MDP, conducted by Franklin Covey Institution and prides himself to have earned the coveted Graduation Certification in 4 Roles Of Leadership, after completing The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People training. Gilroy states he is fortunate to be trained and guided by Steven Covey, the Guru himself in his MDP programme.
Post Scholastic, Gilroy has held senior management positions in companies like Bennett Coleman – Times of India Group as Associate Vice President-Northern India for Radio Mirchi and India Today Group as Senior Vice President. From corporate to media, the unlearning and adapting was effortless due to his objective driven thought and actions. Currently too, Gilroy is remembered to be one of the pioneers to evangelise Private FM Radio in this country and his achievements, like fables are spoken about and remembered.
Gilroy prides himself to be the ‘number guy’ blessed with an analytical and a pragmatic mind but also someone who has a high level of spiritual quotient. Responsible for strategically shaping the fortunes of some of the biggest brands in India like KRBL Ltd., JBM Group, J&K Elections, Hero Munjal Group, HFCL Group, Blaupunkt etc. via his strategic brand guidance, Gilroy is one of the most respected names when it comes to brand strategy consulting.
