John M. Honecker

Prior joining Ecosperity Mobility Limited as the Director Global Supply Chain John worked in the area of Indirect Materials Purchasing where he was globally leading all purchasing activities related to logistics services such as land freight, warehouse & tray cleaning services for Vitesco Technologies, formerly known as the Powertrain Division of the Continental AG – a fortune 500 company. Within the last 12 years John has worked across multiple regions & countries within the Continental Group through which he gained a strong knowledge and expertise in the area of supply chain & purchasing as well an excellent understanding of different cultures & behaviors.

John was born and raised up in Germany where he also completed his high school degree after which he got hired as a trainee / apprentice by Simona AG, a German mid-sized company producing semifinished plastics products. Within his trainee program he went through all departments and therefore gained solid knowledge on how a company overall works. Thanks to his high motivation and quick learning ability he was able to squeeze his apprenticeship & study from three years down to only 18 months.

However, John intended to gain a deeper knowledge in business, economics, and education. He therefore started to study a bachelor & master’s degree in business, economics & education majoring in Controlling, IT & education at Johannes-Gutenberg University of Mainz. During his studies he has been selected by Continental AG to build up a supply chain academy for Continental
Automotive Holding in Asia Pacific located in Shanghai.

After the successful completion of this project he was then hired by the central supply chain department of Continental Automotive in Shanghai where he was responsible for freight & forwarder management covering 24 Continental locations in Asia-Pacific and a freight spend of appr. 70 Mio EUR p.a. Together with his project team members he was able to achieve significant freight cost
reductions though execution of multiple projects.

He further developed his supply chain expertise by joining the Purchasing Department of Indirect Materials where he was responsible for purchasing warehouse and distribution services for the entire Continental Group in Asia Pacific incl. Continental Automotive, Tires & Contitech, located in Shanghai, with a yearly spend of appr. 80 Mio EUR. He has again proven his capability by bringing excellent results and significant cost reductions for the region and was therefore promoted as the Head of Purchasing of Continental India Pvt. Limited located in Delhi/Modipuram, India. He was heading the purchasing department, taking care of direct & indirect materials with a yearly spend of appr. 100 Mio EUR. Thanks to his leadership skills he was able to dramatically change the perception of the purchasing department through enhanced collaboration between the local & central organization with proven results of efficiency improvements and cost reductions.

By working 12 years in Asia John has been able to sharpen his intercultural skillset as well as his communication & leadership skills. Already after a very short time in Asia John has realized that the Asian markets require a more flexible & dynamic approach being open for the quick implementation of new ideas and quick decision making while at the same time balancing out the typical stereo type of Germans being very structured, organized, well planned and detail oriented with the highest quality standards.
